Launch of India Special Issue of Global Trade and Customs Journal & Panel Discussion on India in the International Economic Order: Issues and Perspective

The Global Trade and Customs Journal is a reputed international journal in the field of international trade law. In 2019, Professor James J. Nedumpara, Head & Professor of the Centre for Trade and Investment Law was invited to edit a special Issue of the GTCJ. The Special Issue, focused on India and titled ‘India in the International Economic Order: Issues and Perspective’, has articles and contributions from many eminent Indian trade experts and scholars. This Special Issue has collated views of trade experts and scholars on various aspects of international trade and India’s role in and perspective on emerging issues in international trade. The first Panel focused on the theme ‘India and the contemporary international economic order’. Like the Special Issue, the Panel discussed the emergence of India as a key player in the global trade regime. The Panel discussed the competitive strength of the Indian Economy and the evolution of India’s trade policy over the last several decades. The second Panel focused on theme ‘Investment, FTAs and Other Emerging Issues in the International Trade Regime’. The Second Panel discussed new areas in international economic law which have emerged in the recent past including India’s approach to Bilateral investment treaties, perspective on e- commerce and government procurement policies the Generalised System of Preferences, among other issues.
