Tathagata Choudhury is a lawyer and trade and investment policy advisor with experience
ranging across policy, transactional law and disputes issues. Tathagata is currently an
Associate at the Centre for Trade and Investment Law (Centre) where he advises the
Government of India on a broad range of issues surrounding investment, trade in goods and
services, digital trade etc. Prior to joining the Centre, Tathagata has worked with the
International Investment Agreement Division of UNCTAD. Tathagata has previously worked
with Cyril Amarchand Magaldas, Mumbai and Trilegal Mumbai advising clients across a
variety of sectors ranging from renewables and energy, mines and minerals, telecom and
critical infrastructure. He has also represented clients in international and domestic
arbitrations (LCIA and ICC rules) and court litigations. Tathagata is enrolled with the Bar
Council of West Bengal.
Tathagata holds an LLM in International (Economic) Law from the Geneva Graduate
Institute, Geneva, Switzerland and an LLM in Comparative Commercial Law from Queen
Mary, University of London, UK. Tathagata holds a B.A. LL.B (Hons) from Hidayatullah
National Law University, Raipur. Tathagata is enrolled with the Bar Council of West Bengal.
