The Centre for Trade and Investment Law recently organized a prestigious two-day International Conference in collaboration with the TradeLab network in Geneva. The event took place on December 13th and 14th, 2024, at the India Habitat Centre and The Lalit in New Delhi. The conference was honored by the presence of Honorable Justice UU Lalit, former Chief Justice of India, as the keynote speaker. The Chief Guest Address was delivered by Mr. Sanjay Chadha, Former Additional Secretary, Government of India, and Head of Public Policy for India and South Asia at Uber Technologies. Dr. Jan Yves Remy, Co-President of TradeLab and Director of the Shridath Ramphal Centre for International Trade Law, Policy, and Services at the University of West Indies, and Prof. Katrin Kuhlmann, Co-President of TradeLab and Professor at the Graduate and International Programs at Georgetown University Law Center, also graced the event. Members of the TradeLab executive committee, faculty from partner TradeLab clinics in various countries including India (NALSAR Hyderabad, DNLU Jabalpur, GNLU), TradeLab India students, and distinguished faculty from institutions such as Delhi University, National Law University Delhi, National Law Institute University Bhopal, Jindal Global Law School, Bennett School of Law, Amity University, and Lloyd Law College participated in the conference. Students from MNLU Mumbai and HNLU Raipur also represented their institutions. The main theme of the conference focused on advancing teaching pedagogy and clinical legal education in the field of international trade and investment law. Panel discussions were held on various important and ongoing topics within this area of law. Additionally, there were closed-door sessions for TradeLab executive committee members and sessions for TradeLab academic supervisors to provide feedback. The conference also featured three student presentations from MNLU Mumbai, GNLU, and QMUL London as part of the TradeLab India Clinic. These students showcased their research, findings and their unique experience of getting to work on real-world practical issues in the filed of international trade and Investment Law
